“In May of 2019, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma and underwent 6 months of ABVD chemotherapy. I am currently in remission and look forward to the 5-year mark when my oncologist considers me "cured" of cancer.
Before my diagnosis, I was a performer with Disney on Ice and I continued to skate and even performed shows while going through chemotherapy. I am currently touring in the U.S. with Disney on Ice and am so grateful to get to skate with my husband every day.
Having cancer at a young age taught me to value the short time we have in the world with our loved ones and to do what makes you truly happy. After treatment, I value my friendships and experiences so much more.
I am also continually amazed at what my body can overcome and appreciate the physical and mental strength that allows me to do so much in life. I get to perform many specialty tricks such as aerial silks, Spanish web, and aerial straps in the show, and when I stop and think about what my body has gone through and what it still provides, it is so astonishing.
Not a day goes by that I don't think about the possibility of relapsing which is scary, but also motivates me to live to the fullest and not take life for granted.
Getting to travel with Disney on Ice has allowed me to see lots of amazing places and meet some of my closest friends, and surviving cancer has allowed to appreciate this to the fullest.”
