“My family are all carriers of the BRCA1 gene, so asking me who I Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer for is both an easy and a hard question to answer.
I skate for my mother and my sister who both had breast cancer in their early 30s. I skate for my Aunt Barbara who survived breast cancer only to lose her battle with ovarian cancer. I skate for my Aunt Phyllis who lost her battle with ovarian cancer. I skate for my niece who just learned that she too is a carrier. I skate for myself as a very recent survivor.
But I think I mostly skate for my daughter to show her that she comes from a long line of warriors!”
