Share your cancer journey
Thank you for your willingness to share your Cancer Journey with the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and our followers. We hope the suggestions below will help you share your story and inspire others.
Please use these questions to help you write your journey. You do not have to answer every question directly, but we hope these prompts help you think about what you can share.
Your Diagnosis: How did you find out you had cancer? What were your initial thoughts or emotions when you received your diagnosis? Who supported you when you first learned the news? Were there any signs or symptoms beforehand that you didn’t recognize at the time?
Your Treatment: What type of treatment did you undergo, and how did you handle it physically and emotionally? What was the most difficult part of your treatment experience? Did your perspective on life begin to shift during treatment? How so?
Your Perspective: Was there a specific moment or realization that helped you feel hope or strength? What kept you going when things felt hard? Were there any unexpected sources of comfort, inspiration, or laughter?
Your Survivorship: How did life change for you after treatment ended? What does “survivorship” mean to you personally? How do you manage any long-term effects or fears of recurrence?
Your Reflections: Have your values, goals, or relationships changed since your experience? What have you learned about yourself through this journey? What would you want others (patients, caregivers, or the public) to understand about cancer? Is there anything you wish you had known when you were first diagnosed? What advice would you give to someone who’s just beginning their cancer journey?
Your Legacy: Why is it important for you to share your story? What legacy or message do you hope to leave behind through your survivorship?
