Volunteer Spotlight: Amy Zack

Amy Zack, center, with Scott Hamilton and CARES Executive Director Karri Morgan

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we’re happy to share stories and insights from some of our volunteers across the country. Amy Zack is a member of our Event Committee and the Silent Auction Procurement Committee in Nashville. In 2024, Amy procured over $15,000 worth of auction items.

What inspired you to volunteer with CARES? Do you have a personal connection to cancer that makes CARES meaningful to you?

Being a cancer survivor, CARES lets me feel like part of a community that gives back. CARES allows me to continue to "pay it forward".

Can you share a memorable experience, event, or moment from your time volunteering?

With such a wide variety of events and opportunities to volunteer over the past 8 years, the annual Scott Hamilton & Friends is one of my favorites. That's how I first got involved with CARES.

How has being involved with our foundation changed your perspective on cancer research? How do you feel knowing you’re supporting life-saving research?

As someone who benefited from a research trial, I know how critical funding research is.

What would you say to someone considering volunteering with CARES?

CARES is a warm and welcoming group of individuals who make volunteering easy. They make everyone feel welcome.
