CARES Brand and Style Guidelines

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation’s Brand and Style Guidelines are provided for use by staff, volunteer leadership, and our Partners for official CARES business. The purpose of this page is to assist in the consistent use of style by explaining the components of the CARES Style Guide and logo usage.

CARES Brand Platform

Use all logo artwork exactly as it is given. Do not create a logo yourself or request anyone else make a logo without permission. Never manipulate the logo. Do not change the typeface or colors. Do not redraw, distort, animate, or add to it. The logo should never be placed on backgrounds that hamper its readability, i.e. backgrounds with patterns or textures, backgrounds too close in color to the logo color palette that decrease contrast.

Logos should always be surrounded by a buffer area of clear space to separate it from text and other graphic elements, as well as the edge of the page. No other elements should infringe upon this space.

The CARES upside down ribbon can be used separately from the CARES logo if the complete name of the Foundation is displayed elsewhere on the same page. The upside down ribbon is represented in all CARES logo versions as well as all CARES sub-brands.

Use of the CARES Name in Copy

  • Always capitalize the first letter of our Founder’s first and last name, Scott Hamilton.

  • When using the full name of the Foundation, the name should appear in one line without line breaks.

  • When wanting to shorten the name of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation in copy, our full name (Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation) must appear two times.  You may then use our acronym, CARES.

    • CARES is an acronym and must always be in all caps.  CARES stands for Cancer Alliance for Research, Education, and Survivorship.

  • Never capitalize all letters in the name of the Foundation in body copy (never SCOTT HAMILTON CARES FOUNDATION).

Use of CARES Trademarks

CARES has registered trademarks with the Patent and Trademark Office of the United States and with the State of Tennessee.  Trademarks prevent others from using the Foundation’s marks in an unauthorized manner.  The registered trademark symbol must be used every time. To make the registered trademark symbol in a word document, use the Insert menu to insert a symbol.
